Businesses are moving online fast
Regional retailers and services have accelerated their web presence, creating steady demand for people who can build it.
Three web subjects — design, programming and content management systems — resting on the general IT foundation Qualifi applies across its whole range. Everything is compulsory, there is nothing to choose, and the finished award is worth 240 credits at Level 5.
Note: Duration will be based on your experience and it can be advanced bachelors too which differs from prospects to prospects
Building for the web pulls in several directions at once. Something has to look right, something has to work when a visitor clicks it, and somebody has to be able to update the words next month without calling you. Design, programming and content management are three different skills, and this programme treats them as three different subjects.
Web design handles how a site is put together and presented. Web programming covers making it behave. Content management systems address the reality that most of the web now runs on a platform somebody else maintains, and that knowing your way around one is a practical requirement rather than a nice extra.
Eight further subjects form the base, and they recur throughout Qualifi's IT range: how the field thinks about ethics, the numerical groundwork, machines and the systems that run them, imagery and the databases behind it, keeping things secure, administering servers, development work, and turning technical skill into a business. The programme is fixed, with nothing to choose, and carries 240 credits under number 610/3476/9.
Web design and web programming are taught as distinct subjects rather than merged into one vague web module.
A practical inclusion, since most working websites run on a platform the client expects to edit themselves.
Computer graphics editing with database concepts gives you both the visual and the data side of a site.
Network security is compulsory, which matters for anyone putting things on the public internet.
Technopreneurship covers turning technical skill into something that pays, useful for freelance web work.
Everything is fixed, so the programme cannot be narrowed by an option choice made too early.

It is a mistake on Qualifi's page, and we are telling you rather than tidying it away. The list is presented as twelve subjects but prints the title "Web Design" at two different positions, which leaves eleven distinct names. Comparing with Qualifi's general IT award suggests what the duplicate has displaced, but suggesting is not publishing, and we are not going to put a subject title in the awarding body's mouth. Your centre can confirm the real list from the Centre Specification.
No, and that distinction is worth being clear about. Computer graphics editing appears as part of a broader subject that also covers database concepts, and web design concerns building sites rather than visual identity, typography or brand work. If you want to become a designer in the artistic sense, look at a design course. If you want to build functioning websites with reasonable visual judgement, this is pointed the right way.
Three subjects out of the eleven named: web design, web programming and content management systems. The rest is the general IT foundation Qualifi applies across its range, plus network security, system administration, programming and the entrepreneurship subject. So the web content is the specialism sitting on a broad base, not the whole programme. Knowing that in advance prevents disappointment.
Qualifi names the subject as Content Management Systems without specifying any platform, and publishes no further detail on the qualification page. Whether your centre teaches a particular system, and which one, is a question for the centre. Ask before enrolling if a named platform matters to you, because the concepts transfer but employers often ask for specific experience.
Nothing in the published entry requirements demands one. The bar is eighteen years of age, English at IELTS 6 or an accepted equivalent where it is not your first language, and two referees who can vouch for you, one of them preferably from education. The centre makes its own assessment of whether you can meet the programme's demands. Anyone who has taught themselves to build sites is likely to find the application straightforward.
Both belong to the approved centre. Qualifi designs, regulates and certificates the qualification without teaching it, and it publishes neither a duration nor a total qualification time for this award, nor a price for any of its qualifications. Ask the centre for start dates, expected length and a complete figure, including any software or hosting costs attached to the practical work.
